What does self-love mean?
Self-love is one of those things that you commonly get. You don’t understand it. You feel it.
Self-love is unconditional love, acceptance, and appreciation for yourself. Unconditional self-love means that no matter what you do, you will always end up loving yourself more.
Self-love is a journey.
Loving yourself is not as easy as 123, as simple as do re mi. It is a tough job. With every failure, you will always end up questioning your self-worth, and that is not healthy. To achieve self-love, you will have to give your best and put in effort. It will require your full dedication and devotion.
Self-love is the most important love we can have. No one can make us feel happy and loved if we don’t practice it on ourselves. Never define self-love as narcissism or having a big ego. It isn’t. It is self-love. Putting yourself first before others is not selfish. It’s called self-love. Loving yourself does not mean always putting yourself first at the expense of others. People might misunderstand you, but only you will truly understand what is best for you.
Why is self-love important?
Self-love is the starting point for you to be able to truly and selflessly love without expecting anything in return. You will not be able to love genuinely if you cannot love yourself first. People will always take you for granted when they know you are weak and fragile. Being able to love yourself is the most powerful thing you can throw at the people who love to take advantage of you.
Self-love is very important because it gives us real happiness and can satisfy our soul.
Through it, we can achieve contentment.
Learn to love yourself, because at the end of the day, people will leave you behind, but ONLY you are the one who will stay forever. Your love for yourself is incomparable to the strength of all other relationships. Having a relationship with yourself doesn’t require a breakthrough, it just requires you to focus on yourself before others. If you long for an intimate relationship just like other couples, practicing self-love is a must. The golden rule tells us, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself,” because love requires us to love ourselves first.
On the path to loving yourself, some struggles and difficulties will surely make you strong in hindsight.
How do you learn to love yourself?
Learning to love yourself is learning how to take good care of your mental health and your body. It is always about admiring yourself and imagining the best for you. It is about appreciating who you are and who you will be in the different seasons you will experience in the future. It’s about knowing your worth without the desire to question your value.
In the words of Siddhartha Gautama Buddha, “You can search the entire universe for someone more deserving of your love and affection than yourself, and that person is nowhere to be found. You yourself deserve your love and affection just as much as anyone else in the entire universe.”
Learning to love yourself is a virtue.
Admire yourself, accept who you are, forgive yourself, and most importantly, don’t settle for less.
